Find a support coordinator

What is support coordination?

Support coordination is an NDIS-funded service that helps you understand and implement your NDIS plan. A good support coordinator is an advocate, a connector, and a problem-solver.

They help you find and connect with the right providers for each of your goals — whether that's a physio, a support worker, an SDA home, or an employment program.

Support coordination is funded under Capacity Building in your NDIS plan. The cost is covered by NDIS — it doesn't come out of your other support budgets.

Finding and vetting providers for each support
Setting up service agreements with providers
Resolving issues with providers or the NDIA

Connecting with community and informal supports
Managing complex situations (hospitalisation, housing crisis)

Support coordination FAQ

What does a support coordinator do?

A support coordinator helps you understand your NDIS plan, connect with providers, resolve issues, and make the most of your funding. They are not a provider of direct support but a navigator of the system.

Who funds support coordination?

Support coordination is funded under the Capacity Building budget in your NDIS plan. If you have complex needs, Specialist Support Coordination may also be funded. The NDIS funds the cost directly — it doesn't come out of your other supports.

Do I need a support coordinator?

Not everyone has support coordination in their plan. It is most valuable for people with complex needs, those new to the NDIS, or participants who struggle to navigate the system independently. You can request it at your plan review.

Can my support coordinator also deliver other supports?

There are rules about conflicts of interest. Your support coordinator must not also be your main provider of other NDIS supports unless you have given informed consent and they can demonstrate it is in your interest.

What is Specialist Support Coordination?

Specialist Support Coordination (SSC) is a higher-intensity version for participants with complex situations — for example, those at risk of homelessness, involved in the justice system, or with very high support needs. SSC practitioners typically have social work or allied health backgrounds.
