What does a plan manager do?

A plan manager receives funding from the NDIS on your behalf and pays your providers. They handle the financial and administrative side of your NDIS plan so you don't have to.

With plan management, you get the flexibility to use both registered and unregistered NDIS providers — giving you far more choice than agency management.

The NDIS funds plan management separately — it doesn't come out of your other supports. You can request it at any time, including at your plan review.

What to look for in a plan manager:

Invoice processing time (aim for 24–48 hours)
Real-time budget tracking dashboard or app
A dedicated plan manager you can actually speak to
Experience with your disability type or service mix
No lock-in after initial commitment — can you change if needed?
Registration with the NDIS Commission
Clear monthly statements and explanations

Plan management is free for you

The NDIS funds plan management under a separate line item in your Capacity Building budget. You don't pay your plan manager out of your other supports. The NDIS pays your plan manager directly at a set rate (check the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements for exact figures). All plan managers must charge the same NDIS-set rate.
